WA All Stars storm home 67- 60
Written by Daniel Tincknell

The WA All Stars have stormed home in the final quarter to snatch victory away from Subiaco in the inaugural Charity Shield. At three quarter time the All Stars called in their go to man Matt Butcher to fire the troops up with some inspirational words. Whatever was said in the huddle drove the All Stars past Subiaco to be eventual 7 point victors when the siren sounded.
Key performers for the WA All Stars included Steve Hooker, who earlier in the week had informed team management that he was going to attempt to break the pole vault world record on Sunday seemed to get White Line Fever playing all four quarters and kicking 5 goal. Kate Hollywood and Candice Falzon were the surprise packets kicking four goals between them and always seemed to find the ball in scoring range. Peta Waterman playing on her 40th birthday dominated the left pocket with some in the crowd comparing her to husband Chris during his time at the Eagles.
The tall timber around the field John Welborn, Graeme Lloyd, Phil Scott and David Sierakowski provided great ball for Cameron Keevers, Justin Langer, Alli Pickett, Jarrad Schofield, Kevan Sparks and Troy Barbagallo to carve up through the midfield and dominate the corridor.
Adrian Barich who was solid at the back, made several decisive runs down the field with Mitchell White and Michael Prior providing support gave Subiaco headaches all night.
Hats off to David Parkin who reached deep into his playbook and at one time snuck 30 All star players on the field at once.
Injuries to report on the WA All Stars team: Neil Randall – Hamstring, Justin Langer – Shoulder and David Sierakowski – Knee
Although it is believed that many of the WA All Stars woke up very sore the following morning.
Subiaco had no injuries to report and are now focusing on the upcoming season ahead with their first WAFL practice match against East Perth on February 19th.
