Reserves Coach's Report Rd 18 v South Fremantle
This week we went into the game against South Fremantle pretty confident we had some more experienced player back and some of the boys coming back from injury a couple of weeks ago are feeling fitter and more confident each week. We started the game quiet well by playing some good attacking football; we had the first 4 shots on goal which were very gettable but only come away with 1 point. After the first 10 min South then took control of the game and kicked 4 goals for the quarter. The Second quarter was very disappointing we let South do as they wanted and we turned the ball over to many times under no pressure. We lacked run and intensity around the ball which allowed south to kick 5 goals to our 1 and we were going into half time 8 goals down.
The second half was a lot better, our ball use and intensity was a lot better and we played a lot more direct and with a lot better ball movement. We put south under a lot more pressure and this allowed us to kick 6 goal to 2 in the third quarter. The last quarter we again played the same way as we did in the third but with only having two on the bench after half time and some off the player going down with cramp we ran out off legs. We were very proud of the players the way they played the second half and especially how they fought it out to the end.
Our better players for the day were A Scott, A Davey, J Wooden, R Smith, R Rout and S Worthington. Thanks again for your support and hope to see you all when we take on Claremont in two weeks time.
Josh Wooden
