Great Southern Colts Carnival 2008

Over the weekend of the 14th and 15th of June, the Great Southern Football Carnival was held at Lake Grace. The carnival was for Colts aged players throughout the lower southern half of the State. Subiaco Football Clubs country zone was represented by the Goldfields Football League and the Esperance Districts Football League.

Subiaco Football Club was represented at the Carnival by Life Member and Trainer Mike Bailey and Club Director Garry Peach. Mike did a fantastic in providing training and support to the Esperance Team. Providing a trainer for the Carnival is part of the commitment the Subiaco Football Club makes in servicing its country zones. The Goldfields team were well looked after by their own support group however the local boys were still keen to have a chat with Mike to pick up on any new techniques or approaches.

Well done Mike you represented our Club with great distinction and helped to further grow the positive relationships we have with our country zones.

Both Leagues acquitted themselves well with the Goldfields winning two of their three games and the Esperance District one. In all three games both Leagues were very competitive and the boys showed a great fighting spirit. A number of these boys will be coming up to our Colts next year so our country zones are continuing to produce good numbers and quality footballers.

The Goldfields team was coached by Barry Gresham and the Esperance team by Sam Horley. A big thankyou to our Regional Development Officers Shane Tobin (Esperance) and Darren Resuggin (Goldfields) for the way you organised and prepared the players for the carnival. Hats off also to the two Leagues and their officials.
